From Wine to History

Posted on April 29, 2015

Spring is when the new wines are unveiled here on San Juan Island.

This Saturday, May 9, 2015, we invite you to take one of our beach cruisers to the San Juan Vineyard, just three miles from Earthbox, and help celebrate the release of 2014 Siegerrebe and Madeleine Angevine and the 2014 Yakima grown Pinos Gris and Riesling. There's nothing quite like having a picnic atop Mt. Young where you can enjoy the spectacular views of the Salish Sea whilst sipping on a glass (or straight from the bottle, we won't tell anyone) of locally produced vino.  Even better, swing by San Juan Bistro on your way out of town and get some of their artisan cheeses to pair with your wine.

If you can't make it the week of the wine releases, then venture up here the following week and explore the rich history of adorable Friday Harbor during the Historic Downtown guided tour on Saturday, May 16. Learn the stories and secrets behind buildings and the people who lived here as you walk through streets and neighborhoods. Our own sister property, the Bird Rock Hotel, is over 120 years old and is part of the tour.
