  1. Island Lights Festival  - 11/30, 3:30pm to 7:00pm

Ring in the season with style as we gather for treats and crafting at the Friday Harbor Whale Museum at 3:30pm before heading to Memorial Park, where Santa will turn on the town’s Christmas lights at 5:15pm. After caroling, uuhh-ing and ahhh-ing, we’ll meander to Brickworks for pictures with Santa, more crafting and fun activities, island harvest soups, mac’n cheese and local spicy cider.

Nana's is a pop-up store, open for the month of December, for kids under 18 to buy $1 to $10 gifts. That’s right. No adults allowed to shop there! This year Nana's is located on First Street, where Rumor Mill used to be.

  1. Salish Sea Nutcracker Ballet & Tea Party - 12/7 & 12/8 at Brickworks

This lovely, interactive, family friendly event, performed by island dancers of all ages is followed by a tea party food & drink, holiday boutique and character photo opportunity.

  1. Adopt a Whale at the Whale Museum

Visit the so very cool Friday Harbor Whale Museum with the most amazing gift shop. See real whale skeletons, hear whale songs, learn about the gentle giant’s habitat and challenges. Adopt a whale as a family and enjoy free admittance to the museum, monthly whale updates and a personalized adoption certificate, biography and genealogy chart of “your” Orca. The proceeds from the adoption program go directly to stewardship, education and research.

Don’t miss this twinkling, European-inspired, old-fashioned Christmas Market, complete with local crafts, island grown food, live holiday music, spirit garden and fun activities for kids and kids at heart.

Are you ready to face the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future? No holiday season is complete without this timeless classic.

Treat your family to a visit to this whimsical store in a home just outside of town, offering antique and vintage Christmas decorations, fairies, figurines and stocking stuffers and the finest candies and chocolates from all around the world, each without any additives, preservatives, artificial flavoring or coloring.

It’s not every day that you’ll have the opportunity to spend the afternoon on an absolutely breathtaking beach taking a nice walk, skipping stones, tide pooling, followed by making a bonfire, roasting smores and sipping hot coco—all the while watching otters, sea lions and foxes.
